Maison Monique, a listed building due to the fact that it is within 500m of the chateau, was originally a village farmhouse cottage built in 1873 and has now been lovingly restored to retain its character and reveal its beauty. The house which can sleep up to 6 people comprises two wings facing east and south and is built on a ridge so has views all way round. Maison Monique enjoys breathtaking views of the Baronnies and the main Pyrenees range (Pic du Midi) to the south and the rolling foothills and valleys to the North. Its large farmhouse kitchen with stone open fireplace, woodburner, beams and wooden floors, the fabulous "grand salon," beautifully furnished and decorated, gives the house a warm, welcoming feel. The house is well insulated so it is cool in summer and warm in winter with the benefit of electric heating in every room.

Maison Monique is luxuriously furnished, tastefully decorated and extremely well equipped with fridge/freezer, gas hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, 32" TV with surround sound, DVD, video, top end stereo and Wi-Fi connectivity. Duvets and English pillows are supplied and linen can be provided.

There are plenty of books, magazines and games, guidebooks, etc. Plus our own personal guidebook to the house and the surrounding area to help you get the most out of your holiday. We also have well equipped and maintained adult mountain bikes for hire at a reasonable rate.

Outside

Outside there is a gated entrance leading to the upper parking area, a courtyard with table and chairs, perfect for breakfast as the sun hits the courtyard in the morning, A large mature garden with extensive lawn, exotic plants and palms and of course the staggering views. There is a shady eating area to the side of the house draped with scented jasmine and climbers, equipped with dining table, eight chairs and BBQ for alfresco meals. Garage storage facilities are available for motorbikers wanting to take advantage of what must be some of the best biking roads in Europe. We have lots of wonderful walks and trails right on the doorstep: you can stroll up to the chateau or walk through the woods to the cistercian Abbaye de L'Escaladieu and if you are here during the summer season there are many local festivals and fetes.
